About

I am a composer and performer committed to developing music within the communities I live. I teach music and the arts as an associate lecturer for the Open University, where I am also an Honorary Associate for the Music Department.

I combine creative practice with research into compositional strategies; often looking at music from a cross-cultural perspective or in terms of how it differs from other creative arts. I view artistic work as an integral part of both expression and education. Based in Oxford, I have worked to set up environments for creative engagement in the community in which I live. I have also composed extensively for dance and in word setting (particularly for contemporary poetry), and perform in various bands. I have a degree in Classics from the University of Oxford, a Diploma in Music from the Open University and an MA and PhD in Composition fro Oxford Brookes University
